**Position Overview**
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated **Mental Health Support Workers** to join our growing team. This role involves supporting individuals with psychosocial disabilities and complex mental health needs, including personal care, daily living assistance, emotional support, and community engagement.
You'll work with clients who identify across the LGBTQIA+ spectrum, and your approach must be inclusive, trauma-informed, and respectful of diverse identities and experiences.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide high-quality, person-centered mental health support to individuals living with disabilities.
- Deliver personal care services including assistance with showering, toileting, grooming, dressing, and mobility, in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Support clients to manage routines such as medication prompts, meal preparation, appointments, and household tasks.
- Build trusting, affirming relationships with clients, particularly those from LGBTQIA+ backgrounds, fostering a sense of safety and belonging.
- Promote independence and recovery by assisting clients to access community, health, and social services.
- Work collaboratively with clients, families, allied health professionals, and internal team members.
- Accurately document daily notes, incident reports, and progress in line with NDIS and company standards.
- Adhere to all relevant safeguarding, health and safety, and NDIS Practice Standards.
**What We're Looking For**
- Previous experience in mental health, disability support, or community services (preferred but not essential).
- Lived experience or strong understanding of the LGBTQIA+ community and inclusive practices.
- Competence in delivering personal care with sensitivity and respect.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Trauma-informed, non-judgmental, and empathetic approach to care.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain).
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle (preferred).
- Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Disability, or Individual Support (or willingness to study).
