Garrawarra Centre will appeal to Assistants in Nursing who have a particular interest in working within the complex specialty of Dementia and who are committed to person-centred care.
Garrawarra Centre thrives on providing quality, person-centred care for elderly people who have a primary diagnosis of Dementia and associated behaviours. We endeavour to maintain a home-like appearance and atmosphere. We work closely with experts in the field such as Geriatricians and Clinical Nurse Specialists to ensure a high level of care is provided.
Where you'll be working
Garrawarra Centre is a 104 bed Dementia Specific Residential Aged Care Facility located in the tranquil setting of Garrawarra State Conservation Area, Waterfall. The Centre is one of the few purpose-built, dementia specific facilities in New South Wales.
There is ample, free on-site parking but you will need your own reliable transport as Garrawarra is not accessible by any public transport.

What You'll Be Doing

Provision of support to the nursing team in the delivery of nursing care in an acute care environment as directed by the Registered Nurse.
Provide direct care activities to residents with dementia in accordance with the nursing care plan and under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Assist Registered and Enrolled Nurses with resident care interventions as directed
Contribute to collecting accurate health care information and maintaining accurate health care documentation as required
Communicate effectively with residents and other health care team members in accordance with appropriate protocol
You will be an integral part of the interdisciplinary team in the provision of person-centred care; and support other nurses and care roles. You will strive to ensure that the people who receive healthcare experience exceptional care that is person-centred, safe, high quality and compassionate. Assistants in Nursing retain responsibility for their personal actions whilst remaining accountable to the Registered Nurse for delegated functions.

Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Descriptor: Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care) or equivalent
Good written and verbal communications skills
Proven ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
