Bishop Workforce is currently seeking experienced and motivated Leading Hands, Civil Labourers, and Plant Operators to join our growing team across multiple civil construction projects in Canberra.
We partner with reputable civil contractors delivering infrastructure, subdivisions, roadworks, drainage, and utility projects throughout the ACT region. Due to continued growth, we are looking for reliable and safety-focused workers who are ready to hit the ground running.
About the Role
You will be working within professional civil crews on a range of ongoing projects across Canberra and surrounding areas.
Leading Hand Duties
* Supervising and coordinating daily site activities
* Leading crews to achieve project deadlines safely and efficiently
* Reading and interpreting plans
* Liaising with supervisors and site management
* Maintaining high safety and quality standards onsite
Civil Labourer Duties
* General civil labouring and site preparation
* Pipe laying, trenching, spotting, and concreting
* Assisting operators and trades onsite
* Using hand and power tools
* Maintaining a clean and safe worksite
Operator Duties
* Operating excavators, rollers, skid steers, loaders, and other machinery
* Final trim and detailed excavation work
* Conducting pre-starts and routine machine checks
* Working safely around crews and underground services
Skills & Experience
* Previous experience in civil construction
* Minimum 1-2 years of civil construction experience required
* White Card (essential)
* Relevant machinery tickets/licences (operators)
* Any civil machinery ticket accepted for operator positions
* Driver's licence and reliable transport
* Strong work ethic and reliability
* Ability to work well within a team environment
* Commitment to workplace safety
Highly Regarded
* GPS machine experience
* MR/HR licence
* Confined Space or Working at Heights tickets
* First Aid certification
