Location: Melbourne

Contract Type: Fixed Term

MinterEllison is one of Australia's largest independent law and consulting firms. With a heritage of almost 200 years, we are known for our excellence, and our authentic and enduring relationships with our clients, our people and our communities. Clients seek out MinterEllison to help them solve complex problems every day. We do this by our full-service legal offering and complementary consulting offering.

We offer opportunities to work on industry-leading mandates for top-tier clients, while being part of a high-performing and collaborative team that values excellence, diversity of thought, curiosity, and inclusion. We value our people and empower them to achieve their ambitions — with the support, trust and autonomy to grow their careers in meaningful ways.

At MinterEllison, we're leading the way with AI and other emerging technologies, powering innovation right across our firm. You will have the opportunity to engage with AI tools we've built, and other external AI tools, to enhance efficiencies and excellence internally and with our clients.

MinterEllison is seeking a Senior Associate to join our nationally recognised Energy & Resources team in Melbourne on a 12 month fixed-term contract. This is an opportunity to work on high-profile, market‐leading energy projects across the public and private sectors.

In this role, you will work closely with leading partners such as Fiona Lewis, and senior lawyers to advise clients navigating Australia's complex and evolving energy regulatory landscape.

Your work will be diverse and impactful, including:

* Advising on major government and commercial energy projects
* Drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements
* Providing strategic regulatory advice and compliance guidance
* Supporting clients to achieve both commercial and policy objectives

You will engage directly with a broad client base across government and corporate sectors, contributing to some of the most significant and complex energy matters in the market.

About You

We are looking for a commercially minded lawyer who thrives in a collaborative, high-performing environment. If you are a regulatory lawyer with an interest in energy and want to work at the forefront of the sector, we'd love to hear from you.

You will bring:

* 5+ years' post‐admission experience in commercial and regulatory law
* Admitted to practice in Victoria
* Demonstrated experience in contract drafting and regulatory advisory work
* A strong interest in or exposure to energy and infrastructure projects
* The ability to work autonomously while contributing to a team‐driven culture
* A client‐focused mindset with the ability to build trusted relationships
* Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous development
* A strong sense of ownership, professionalism, and pride in your work and the firm you represent.

Equal Opportunity Statement

We encourage applications from people of all ages, abilities, cultural backgrounds, genders (including trans or gender diverse), LGBTQ+ people and those with carer responsibilities. We particularly encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to apply.
