Right now, we are looking for a talented Accountant to join our Melbourne office to assist with the internal operations of the firm.
About the role
The Company Accountant is responsible for the internal financial integrity, management reporting and statutory compliance for all Bryant Group entities.
This role ensures the accuracy and efficiency of financial processes, provides commercial insights to support strategic decision-making, and champions ongoing improvements in automation and internal control frameworks.
The role is responsible for payroll processing with appropriate segregation of duties, ensuring payroll approvals and remuneration changes are authorised by the General Manager.
Financial Management and Reporting
Manage general ledgers and trial balances for all Bryant Group entities.
Lead month-end close processes including journals, accruals, and reconciliations.
Prepare consolidated monthly management reports with insightful commentary.
Support budgeting, forecasting and financial performance tracking.
Maintain asset registers and oversee reporting accuracy at all times.
Payroll and People Cost Accounting
Prepare and process payroll accurately and on schedule.
Ensure payroll journals, leave accruals and superannuation are correctly recorded in the general ledger.
Ensure timely lodgement of STP, superannuation and payroll tax obligations.
Maintain segregation of duties by ensuring payroll approvals are performed by the General Manager.
Support payroll accuracy through review of HR inputs and maintaining internal controls.
Statutory Compliance and Governance
Prepare and lodge BAS, IAS and Payroll Tax returns.
Coordinate annual FBT and statutory financial reporting requirements.
Assist with external audit and year-end review processes.
Ensure adherence to accounting standards and internal control frameworks.
Liaise with corporate compliance for ASIC and ATO regulatory obligations.
Cash Flow and Working Capital
Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts with variance analysis.
Monitor and maintain inter-entity loan accounts and reconciliations.
Partner with the AR Manager on debtor performance and cash collection.
Oversee supplier payments and cost management across entities.
Systems, Processes, and Automation
Lead improvements in automation across Access, and integrated platforms.
Maintain financial data integrity and drive continuous reporting enhancements.
Document finance processes and implement workflow efficiencies.
Contribute to systems integration between finance, HRIS, and operational systems.
Leadership and Business Support
Supervise and develop the Bookkeeper / Accounts Officer.
Provide financial insights supporting business plans, pricing and acquisitions.
Prepare ad hoc reports and dashboards for executive decision-making.
Work collaboratively across all teams to drive accountability and transparency.
