Overview
Macquarie University is hiring for an enthusiastic Business Analyst role. This position serves as a vital bridge between the IT Health team and the hospital's clinical and administrative departments, ensuring that technology solutions align with business needs and drive positive outcomes. You will gather and analyse requirements, facilitate communication between stakeholders, and contribute to the successful implementation of IT projects that enhance business agility and patient care.
Key responsibilities
- Collaborate with clinical, administrative, and IT stakeholders to identify, gather, and analyse business requirements for IT projects and initiatives.
- Translate business requirements into functional and non-functional specifications.
- Map and optimise existing processes, identifying opportunities for improvement through technology.
- Facilitate communication between IT and business teams, ensuring a shared understanding of requirements, expectations, and progress.
- Collaborate with MQ Health and stakeholders on project strategies, requirements and feasibility assessments.
- Participate in testing and validation activities to ensure solutions meet requirements and deliver the intended perks.
- Collaborate with the change management team to facilitate staff adoption of current technologies and processes.
- Provide ongoing support and guidance to ensure successful adoption and utilisation of new solutions.
About you
You’re a pragmatic and collaborative Business Analyst who brings:
- Extensive experience in business analysis and the mapping of existing workflows to identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Strong ability to elicit business requirements and translate them into solution requirements and acceptance criteria, maintaining traceability and alignment across the delivery lifecycle.
- Proven capability in business process mapping and articulating end-to-end processes and digital solutions using clear documentation and visual tools.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills – able to translate between business and technical perspectives and distil complex concepts into actionable insights.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement skills, including facilitation of workshops and project ceremonies, and influencing outcomes without formal authority.
- Experience supporting testing, training, change management, and operational handover to ensure quality, adoption and supportability of digital solutions.
- Strong organisational skills, with a delivery-focused mindset, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced agile environment.
- Experience identifying risks, dependencies, and cross-project impacts, and supporting their resolution through clear communication.
- A collaborative mindset, working across teams to ensure alignment and shared understanding of business goals.
- Familiarity with tools such as Visio, Figma, Jira, Confluence, or similar.
- Experience in working in a healthcare environment and familiar with healthcare data standards and terminologies.
- Experience working with external vendors or implementation partners.
