Teacher Science - Ryde Secondary College (Permanent full-time)
Location: Ryde, New South Wales, Australia. Reporting via NSW Department of Education. Closing date: September 17, 2025, 2 a.m. (AEST).
Position Information
Ryde Secondary College (Years 7-12) has an enrolment of around 1500 students, including 68% with an EAL/D background. The college is a comprehensive high school with an academically selective cohort, an additional class for gifted and talented students, regular classes in each cohort and a support unit. The college focuses on quality, explicit teaching, differentiated learning, Cultures of Thinking, collaborative professional learning, social justice programs, and a creative and positive learning environment. It offers extensive whole school programs including extracurricular, sporting, STEM and creative and performing arts programs. This position involves a willingness to innovate and lead STEM projects to build further engagement and performance in Science.
Responsibilities
* Lead STEM projects to enhance student engagement and performance in Science.
* Contribute to the design and delivery of engaging, differentiated learning experiences that develop students' scientific knowledge, skills, and inquiry processes.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach Physics, Chemistry and Science 7-10.
* Demonstrated knowledge of the NSW Science syllabuses (Stages 4–6) and ability to design and deliver engaging, differentiated learning experiences.
* Proven ability to implement evidence-based teaching strategies that cater to diverse learning needs (including EAL/D learners, students with disability, and HPGE students) to achieve high outcomes.
* Demonstrated capacity to use student performance data and assessment practices to inform teaching, provide timely feedback, and evaluate program effectiveness.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is required. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process concurrently with this opportunity.
