Part-Time Waste Transfer Station Gate Attendant / Skip Bin Booking Officer
Meluca Recycling is seeking a reliable and confident Waste Transfer Station Gate Attendant to join our team at our Drouin Recycling Facility.
This is a busy customer-facing role within our waste and resource recovery operations, responsible for assisting customers entering the transfer station, directing vehicles safely through the site, and ensuring waste is correctly priced and disposed of in the appropriate areas.
The position will primarily involve assisting customers as they enter the site, charging them appropriately for waste disposal, and maintaining safe traffic flow. The successful applicant will also be trained in skip bin bookings and customer enquiries while a team member is on maternity leave, providing the opportunity to gain experience across both site operations and administration.

Meluca Recycling is a locally owned waste and resource recovery business based in Gippsland, with facilities in Drouin and Bunyip. We provide skip bin hire, waste transfer, transport and recycling services across the region and are committed to safe operations and responsible resource recovery.
Position Details
* Part-time position (approximately 18–2 hours per week)
* Hourly rate: $28 – $32 per hour depending on experience
* Saturday availability is essential
* Site operates Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturdays 8am to 4pm. Rotating roster to fill the needs of the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Greeting customers and directing vehicles safely through the site
* Inspecting loads to ensure correct waste disposal
* Handling gate fees, cash and EFTPOS transactions
* Providing clear instructions to customers
* Managing site traffic flow and maintaining safety
* Answering phone enquiries and assisting with bin bookings
* Communicating with drivers and yard staff
* Maintaining accurate records and administrative tasks
About You
We are looking for someone who:
* Has strong customer service experience
* Is confident handling conflict and difficult situations professionally
* Is comfortable handling cash and EFTPOS payments
* Is competent using a calculator and basic computer systems
* Can work independently and stay organised during busy periods
* Has strong attention to detail
* Trustworthy and reliable
* Waste industry experience is highly regarded but not essential.

* Ability to confidently work both customer-facing and administrative tasks
