Under the leadership of the Store Manager, you will assist with the direction of Customer Service Assistants whilst being the Manager on Duty, delivering results during your assigned time, driving key performance indicators and brand loyalty by leading through your team. The Store Support Lead is the Store Manager’s Primary Assistant and is responsible for key administration functions in personnel management & payroll, cash management, stock management, cleanliness, safety and driving sales. The Store Support Lead is part of the management team that sets the tone by embracing and living the Ten Tops values.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure all customer service assistants make personal contact with customers
- Achieve store goals as provided by the Operations Manager
- Lead Front End Operations
- Train staff on our Customer Service values
- Ensure each customer has fast, friendly checkout service
- Maintain store cleanliness, recovery, and readiness for customers at all times
- Open and close store procedures
- Assist with Front End Operations and perform SM duties in the manager's absence
- Supervise all team members and assist in training, coaching and development of all Assistants
- Review corporate communications and respond accordingly
- Partner with Store Manager and/or corporate office regarding store issues
- Drive store sales and control expenses
- Assist payroll processes and ensure payroll is within budget
- Assist in merchandising procedures
- Adhere to and hold assistants accountable to all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
- Cash handling procedures including preparing and dropping bank deposits
- Authorize register functions including post voids, returns and discounts
- Comply with Human Resources policies and procedures
- Assist in receiving and stocking procedures, deliveries and invoicing/paperwork
- Check off stock to invoice
- Assist in driving Key Metrics: Sales, Margin and Expense Control
- Perform store maintenance including waste removal, cleaning, and stock room upkeep
- Maintain a strong culture of safety at all times, including correct use of tools and equipment
Essential Job Functions
- Frequently operate computer, printer and cash register
- Frequently move merchandise weighing up to 10 kg and to heights of up to 1.5-3 m
- Frequently ascend/descend ladders to retrieve and stock merchandise
- Regularly use stock trolleys and pallet jacks
- Frequent kneeling, bending and stooping in stock rooms and on the sales floor
- Communicate with customers and staff in person and on the phone, exchanging accurate information
- Direct staff to and from the back office and stock room for stock movements
- Identify and execute merchandise layouts, staff schedules, and SOPs
- Remain upright for extended periods as required
