The City of Armadale is one of WA's fastest growing local governments, and with that growth comes the opportunity to guide meaningful change. We're looking for a Senior Strategic Project Officer to join our Strategic Planning team and help deliver the strategies, planning frameworks and major projects that guide our City's future. In this role, you'll work across land use planning, heritage, public open spaces, strategic landholdings, policy development and high-level stakeholder engagement with influence over how our community grows.
About the Role
This role is about delivering high value strategic planning projects that support sustainable growth and community wellbeing.
You will:
* Lead and contribute to strategic planning projects, strategies and reviews
* Manage and optimise the City's strategic landholdings and surplus land assets
* Monitor planning, environmental and related legislation and adapt processes to ensure compliance
* Negotiate and manage legal agreements, MOUs and positions with external parties
* Prepare and review planning strategies, scheme amendments, structure plans and policies
* Lead the implementation and review of Public Open Space and Strategic Land Asset strategies
* Manage the Local Heritage Survey and related heritage matters
* Prepare business cases, business plans and engagement strategies
* Coordinate working groups and integrate inputs across the organisation
* Provide clear, informed advice and briefings to Council, stakeholders and the community
Your work ensures the City's planning frameworks are contemporary, compliant and aligned with community needs.
About You
You're a confident, collaborative planner with strong technical capability and a strategic mindset. You can navigate legislation, manage complex projects, and bring people together to deliver outcomes.
To this role, you'll bring:
* Qualifications in Urban and Regional Planning (or equivalent)
* Extensive experience in strategic or statutory land use planning
* Strong knowledge of Local Planning Schemes, policies, structure plans and strategic planning processes
* Experience managing major planning projects and navigating legislative frameworks
* Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills
* The ability to balance detail, deadlines and big picture thinking
* A current C Class Driver's Licence
