Mobile Roadside Operator
About the Role:
As a Mobile Roadside Operator, you will work independently to collect a vehicle and travel to designated locations. You will set up and conduct enforcement sessions using various speed and driver enforcement technologies. Your duties will include deploying camera equipment, towing trailers, and operating computer software.
Communication with a Team Leader or Supervisor will occur during the shift, where they will assist with operational or technical issues.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up and operate all camera equipment according to Tasmanian Government legislation, regulations, and guidelines as well as company policies and procedures.
* Deploy various speed and driver enforcement technologies such as mobile speed, Automatic Number Plate detection, or mobile phone and seat belt detection systems.
* Continuously monitor the status of the vehicle or trailer camera equipment to ensure correct operation.
* Tow a trailer with a camera system using an SUV vehicle and set it up on location.
* Raise and lower the extendable mast on the camera system trailer to operate additional traffic enforcement functions.
* Operate computer software and systems within the vehicles and trailers.
Requirements:
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
* Proven ability to strictly follow company policies and procedures.
* Excellent organisational and time management skills.
* Demonstrated ability to interact with members of the public in a calm way, to resolve potentially tense situations.
* Manual dexterity and being comfortable to tow and set up a trailer, using an SUV-type vehicle.
* Flexibility to work a roster including early mornings, nights and public holidays.
* Flexibility to pick up spare shifts at short notice, and if requested, to travel to other regions of the State and stay for up to 4 days to conduct enforcement sessions.
* Being comfortable to work alone in rural and/or remote locations and able to remain seated for extended periods of time in a vehicle.
* You believe in the value of road safety programs.
* Very good IT skills, including typing and using multiple screens.
* A clean driving record and the ability to pass a background check.
* Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends and public holidays.
* Agreement to complete a National Police Check and a pre-employment Medical Assessment is required.
