Boilermaker / Maintenance All-Rounder
Are you a trade-qualified Boilermaker (Heavy Fabrication) who’s comfortable supporting maintenance fitters as well as welding operations? At Sims Metal, we’re looking for a hands-on problem solver to keep our recycling yard moving.
The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in keeping our fixed and mobile plant operating at its best. From fabrication to breakdown support, you’ll enjoy plenty of variety in your day.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Completing safe, efficient repairs to maximise machine availability
- Tackling both planned and unplanned maintenance activities
- Recommending improvements to plant performance and work practices
- Rolling up your sleeves to keep a clean, organised workspace
- Working side by side with fitters and other trades to get the job done
- Pitching in with overtime during breakdowns and shutdowns when required
What You’ll Bring
- Trade Qualified - Certificate III in Heavy Fabrication (essential)
- Forklift and EWP license (highly regarded)
- Strong background in maintenance, servicing, and repairs
- Welding and fabrication skills across MIG, ARC, and oxy cutting
- Experience in a heavy industrial or production environment
- A proactive, team-focused attitude
