Job Title: Sourcing Manager (Starship)
Sourcing managers play a critical role in enabling Starship's mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species. They are responsible for managing the supply chain department, which includes procurement, planning and fulfillment, supplier development and quality, logistics and inventory.
Responsibilities:
* Analyze supplier spend, capacity, and develop overall supplier negotiation and engagement strategies to implement sustainable cost controls and improve supplier relationships.
* Ensure work centers are clear to build on time and meet specifications by implementing sensible min/max/reorder-points aligned to the MRP Demand plan.
* Take ownership of work center material health and collaborate with production counterparts and engineering to stay on top of start and finish dates, cycle times, and design change cut-ins.
* Manage complex outsourcing and cross-functional projects, negotiate high-value contracts, and interpret contract conditions and terms involving fiscal and legal implications.
* Act as liaison with external and internal customers on all matters affecting contractual agreements, lead commodity strategies for sheet metal, raw materials, machined parts, hardware, and aerospace components, and determine best value suppliers.
* Proactively investigate new market trends, collaborate with engineering on technology, cost, and supply standpoint, and drive design for manufacturability reviews to champion value-add and value engineering projects.
* Mitigate sole/source risk, ensure continuity of supply, and champion supplier discovery and visit supplier facilities to assess technical capability, equipment, and capacity.
* Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships, execute MRP planning messages, resolve purchase order discrepancies and invoice issues, analyze procurement data, and report metrics.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures and government regulations.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
* Advanced degree and 3+ years of experience working in one or more of the following: engineering, purchasing, contract negotiation, material or production planning, operations or supply chain management, material cost control, master production scheduling, or bachelor's degree and 5+ years of experience working in one or more of these fields.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
* Technical procurement, manufacturing, and vendor management experience; experience reading datasheets, drawings, and blueprints; proven track record of leadership and team building skills; strong vendor management experience; and experience in contract negotiation and production purchasing.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Must be able to travel up to 35% work week travel may be required, including international travel, and must be able to work extended hours and/or weekends as needed to meet major milestones.
