The Role
As a member of our team, you will ideally be a conscientious, flexible and innovative teacher who is committed to the development of the whole student. You will ideally be actively involved both within the school and wider community, highly reflective of your teaching practices and committed to evidence-based decision making and differentiation.
Your role as a Physical Education teacher at Safety Bay SHS is not just about teaching Dance but about shaping the culture of our school. We are looking for an applicant who will self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities that enable students to achieve their highest potential. With excellent organisational skills and practical interpersonal skills, you would work closely with students, teachers, and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
At Safety Bay SHS, we are committed to student engagement. As a Physical Education teacher specialising in Dance, you will engage all students in learning through a differentiated program that accounts for variance in learning styles, individual needs and academic levels. You should be dedicated to planning and delivering high quality teaching programs that promote student engagement and achievement in this area. You would develop and engage students in theory and practice to enrich their learning experience and organisation to prepare students for performances, assessments and examinations as required. The context for this position is for a person with a Dance (contemporary) background who is willing to work collaboratively with other staff (including external specialists) to contribute to school productions and events. The Dance genres delivered to students are contemporary/lyrical, with jazz preferred but not required.
Experience in industry and/or delivering Vocational Education and Training programs, including holding a Certificate III in Dance and a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or the possibility of undertaking training in these fields, is also highly desirable.

* hold an eligible teacher qualification and registration.
* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. More information about employment eligibility can be found on our website.
* apply for a WA Working with Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education's Screening Unit before you start.
