The Ensham operation consists of a highly productive UG bord & pillar mine and an open cut mine that is now a major rehabilitation project, with current production levels of 4 million tonnes per annum. Ensham has been a valued contributor to the Emerald community since 1993.
How you will contribute:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Site Accountantto join our site leadership team on a 6-month fixed term contract. This role plays a critical part in supporting the financial performance of the operation and will provide backfill support to the Finance Superintendent as required.
As directed by your leader, you will plan, organise, manage and deliver key financial activities including budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, cost analysis, business improvement initiatives and project support. You will ensure all activities are completed in a safe, timely, effective and cost-efficient mannerto support delivery of annual site targets.
Reporting to the Finance Superintendent / Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
· Support and backfill the Finance Superintendent role as required
· Coordinate and prepare site inputs for the monthly accounting process
· Prepare site cost reports, cost analysis and provide proactive cost management support to department managers and superintendents
· Facilitate departmental cost meetings and follow up cost variances with accountable stakeholders
· Lead and support cost reduction initiatives, business improvement projects and continuous improvement of financial processes
· Prepare monthly and quarterly forecasts and annual budgets
· Xeras modelling and continuous improvement of financial models
· Assist with preparation of the Monthly Performance Report and site monthly presentations, including analysis and commentary
· Prepare information for interim and year-end audits
· Support delivery of commercial and financial training to site stakeholders
· Provide capital application support, including NPV calculations, capital spend forecasting, budgeting and identification of assets for capitalisation
· Undertake other duties as directed by the Commercial Superintendent or Finance Manager
About You:
You will bring:
· Proven experience in a senior accounting or site finance role, ideally within mining, resources or heavy industry
· Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, cost control and financial reporting in an operational environment
· Experience supporting senior leaders and influencing operational stakeholders
· Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving skills
· Advanced Excel and financial modelling capability (Xeras experience highly regarded)
· Ability to operate autonomously, manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines
· Strong communication skills and a collaborative, proactive approach
