Allume Energy is a Melbourne based solar technology company focused on unlocking solar access for apartments and multi-tenanted buildings. Allume Energy has developed a world first product to allow a single solar system to be shared by multiple units in the same building. It requires no change to existing electricity supply and metering infrastructure and sits entirely behind the meter, making it an affordable and scalable solution to expand access to solar globally.

Position

Allume Energy is continuing to grow our product development team as we design & industrialise new products for the global market. Our product, the SolShare, spans the mechanical, electrical, electronics, firmware and web software engineering spheres.

We are looking for a driven, adaptable, and experienced Senior Electronics Design Engineer to drive and deliver the product and solutions that will allow us to scale globally.

The role will require the persistence to solve problems, the initiative to identify product improvement opportunities and the diligence to follow through on development and verification activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

* Work within Allume’s multi-discipline product development team to lead and contribute to electronics design and development of new product iterations.
* Plan and deliver electronics projects end-to-end; managing timelines, resources and a small electronics team to ensure successful execution from concept to industrialisation.
* Engineering for high volume manufacture, product cost, reliability and market fit, including both whole product & core-technology focus areas.
* Contributing to new product innovation in an evolving market segment
* Prototype, test and verification of an integrated product, with focus on the electronics system.
* Contribute to planning and execution of regulatory testing and compliance for global markets
* Continuous improvement of electronics design processes & tools, raising the bar for quality and efficiency of the team.
* Maintain and support existing product portfolio currently being manufactured with design updates, obsolescence management and QA activities
* Support customer facing sales & service teams with problem solving and issue resolution

Requirements

* 5+ years experience in electronics development from concept through to transfer to manufacture, including project planning, milestones & scheduling.
* Experience with schematic design & layout of electrical - electronics systems (Altium Designer preferred)
* Hands on experience in designing, prototyping & testing electronics hardware systems
* Willingness to work hands on in an electronics lab environment for prototype & test
* Collaborative team-based approach with strong written and verbal communication skills
* Experience with technical problem solving, conducting root cause assessment & thorough investigation
* Resilience and adaptability to work in an early-stage business
* Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of a task
* Mechatronics, Electrical/Electronics or similar engineering degree
* Melbourne based

Desirable:

* 5+ years experience in multi-disciplinary product development, working with firmware, software and mechanical engineers
* Experience in electrical/electronics architecture design including consideration of product trade-offs
* Experience in product verification, including EMC compliance, safety testing etc.
* Experience in transfer to manufacture
* Experience in electronics product design for high volume markets
* Knowledge of and experience working with grid-connected electrical and/or renewable energy systems
* Knowledge of and experience working with power electronics
* Experience working in a risk-management & quality controlled environment
