City of Newcastle (CN) is offering a Traineeship opportunity in Waste and Commercial Collections for motivated individuals who are committed to developing their skills and building a rewarding career in the waste services industry.
As a Trainee, you'll work alongside experienced professionals and rotate through a variety of operational areas — from general waste and garden organics to bulk waste and bin maintenance — while completing a Certificate IV in Waste Management and obtaining your Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence upon successful completion of your Traineeship.
You'll experience your work up close alongside colleagues who care for one another and the region, and you'll be supported with flexible work arrangements to help you balance life and work.

Responsibilities
* Rotate through a variety of operational areas in Waste and Commercial Collections.
* Assist with general waste, garden organics, bulk waste and bin maintenance activities.
* Complete a Certificate IV in Waste Management as part of the Traineeship.
* Successfully obtain a Heavy Rigid (HR) driver licence upon completion of the Traineeship.

Selection Process & Important Dates
Application Closing Date: Wednesday 17 September 2025.
If progressing, attendees will participate in a group assessment centre for a 3-hour period between Tuesday 30 September – Thursday 2 October 2025, followed by a Pre-employment medical scheduled for 7–14 October 2025.
Remuneration
$37,856.48 + 17.5% annual leave loading, yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week.
