8D is a 30 bed Surgical ward catering for the following specialties: Head & Neck/ENT; Gynae Oncology; Endocrine Surgery – adrenalectomies, breast surgery, complicated thyroids; General Surgery – melanoma surgery; Upper Gastro Intestinal Surgery; Colorectal surgery; Plastics; Opthalmology and Dental. The unit boasts a supportive team, educational opportunities to develop an expansive knowledge base, and encouragement to pursue professional development opportunities.

Candidates will need to meet the following criteria:
* Currently enrolled in second or third year of a Bachelor of Nursing or degree deemed appropriate; or current enrolment in Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) with evidence of completion of Block 1; or completion of HLT33115 Certificate III in Health Services Assistance (Assisting in Nursing Work in Acute Care).
* Demonstrated, effective written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
