Take charge of optimising our water metering operations to ensure accurate billing and exceptional customer service.About the roleDrive the implementation and promotion of Council's Integrated Water Cycle Management (IWCM) Strategy, applying strategic, operational and engagement expertise across Council and the wider Tweed community.Lead the coordination and delivery of Water Demand, Water Loss and Drought Management programs, including budgeting, project planning, performance monitoring and strategic advice.Oversee the Meter Reading team to ensure timely, accurate meter reads, efficient workflows, and effective management of Council's metered standpipe fleet and special meter read requests.Develop and implement policies and procedures aimed at reducing water losses and non-revenue water across Council's water network.Collaborate extensively with internal teams, government agencies and the public, providing clear guidance on water management matters, legislation, policies and codes.Prepare high-quality reports, briefings and presentations; manage complex customer inquiries; and work closely with Communications and Marketing to support community education and engagement activities.Manage budgets, workflows, direct reports, consultants and contractors, while supporting organisational development and acting in the coordinator role when required.What's on offera permanent full-time position with Tweed Shire Councila base salary ranging from $119,030 per annum with competency-based increments up to $132,348 per annum, plus 12% super70 hour, 9-day fortnighttraining and development opportunitiesflexible work options for a healthy work/life balancegenerous employment conditionsWe are seekingA professional Engineer with demonstrated experience in the Water and Wastewater industry, particularly in Water Demand Management and Integrated Water Cycle Management.Someone with strong analytical, investigative and problem-solving skills, capable of designing, implementing and evaluating innovative strategies, policies and operational practices.A specialist able to provide expert advice on water demand management, IWCM principles, and water supply and wastewater policy.A confident communicator with highly developed interpersonal, consultation, negotiation and conflict-resolution skills, able to work effectively with staff, contractors, consultants, government representatives and the community.A clear and effective writer and presenter, skilled in communicating complex technical topics in an accessible and engaging way.An experienced project manager with the ability to coordinate diverse programs, policies and resources, and manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.Someone experienced in developing and implementing corporate-level policies and procedures, water loss management programs, and water metering and customer billing processes.A capable leader with experience managing staff or multidisciplinary teams, and sound knowledge of environmental and WHS legislation relevant to water operations.
