About The RoleReporting to the Superintendent Drill & Blast and Road Maintenance, as a Drill and Blast Supervisor, your main accountability will be to lead a team conducting production drilling, stope prepping, and blasting activities, overseeing underground magazine operations. You will also focus on fostering a culture of care by being a visible safety leader, engaging, developing, and coaching your team, while ensuring a strong commitment to health, safety, environment, and sustainable production.
You Will Also
Build effective relationships across mine departments to support improved production
Shape culture in alignment with BHP Charter Values
Promote continuous improvement in work practices and procedures
Manage a diverse team in a drill & blast environment
Work within a team to meet shift drill targets and blast plans
Report events and hazards accurately and promptly
Lead process improvement initiatives
Conduct performance, development, and disciplinary conversations
Develop team capability through coaching, development, and succession planning
About You
You should have a desire to shape culture, lead a team, and improve business processes. Your background in similar roles will prepare you well. Strong communication and relationship skills are essential. Safety focus must be part of your daily practice. Additional skills and experience include:
Previous supervisory experience
Underground mining experience, preferably with drill and blast practices
Current SA Blasters Licence or ability to obtain one, including police clearance
Ability to influence and mentor others in HSE principles
Ability to operate across disciplines and levels
