Op Shop Assistant Role Description
* We are seeking enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to assist with raising funds through sales of donated items and provide excellent customer service.
* This role involves assisting with sorting, tagging, and preparing donations for sale, assessing the quality and suitability of merchandise, disposing of unsuitable goods, processing sales and handling cash, creating window displays, maintaining store appearance, identifying hazards and reporting incidents, and applying Red Cross policies and procedures.
* This volunteer opportunity requires manual handling up to 10kg and standing for long periods.
* As a valued member of our team, you will have the opportunity to develop your retail skills, including tagging, pricing, and register operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Sort, Tag, and Prepare Donations for Sale
Volunteers will be responsible for sorting, tagging, and preparing donations for sale, ensuring that all items are accurately priced and presented in an attractive manner.
Assess Quality and Suitability of Merchandise
Our volunteers will assess the quality and suitability of donated items, making decisions on what can be sold, donated, or discarded.
Dispose of Unsuitable Goods
Unsuitable goods will be disposed of in accordance with our waste management procedures.
Process Sales and Handle Cash
Volunteers will process sales, handle cash, and provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive shopping experience for our customers.
Create Window Displays and Maintain Store Appearance
Our volunteers will create visually appealing window displays and maintain the overall appearance of the shop, ensuring it is clean, tidy, and well-presented at all times.
Identify Hazards and Report Incidents
Volunteers will identify potential hazards and report any incidents to the relevant authorities, ensuring a safe working environment for everyone.
Apply Red Cross Policies and Procedures
