Overview

APS6 Senior Privacy Officer (Baseline minimum). Ally group is seeking APS6 Privacy Officers for secondment opportunities to support the Legal Services Division for a high-profile Australian Government client. This position is offered as an initial three‐month contract with the possibility of a further three‐month extension.

This role is open to multiple locations including Canberra (ACT), Brisbane (QLD), Melbourne (VIC), Sydney (NSW), and requires a minimum Baseline Clearance.

Responsibilities

* Provide advice on the Privacy Law Act, relevant legislative frameworks, and policies and processes that support effective information management.
* Deliver privacy advice and oversee the review and management of privacy incidents.
* Work with a high level of autonomy, applying expertise and sound judgement to navigate complex privacy matters and make informed decisions.
* Analyse, integrate and evaluate information to support sound decision‐making and prepare recommendations for review by senior staff.
* Prepare complex correspondence and contribute to briefing materials, responses to external review bodies and Ministerial correspondence for senior staff review.
* Draft written materials, including reports and corporate documentation, for consideration by senior staff.
* Provide specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders.
* Develop, maintain and support effective stakeholder relationships relating to information‐handling practices.
* Assist business areas to resolve escalated issues, including those involving external review bodies, and prepare related advice for senior staff review.
* Maintain and utilise information stored in databases and contribute to the preparation of reports.
* Facilitate privacy compliance activities across business areas and monitor adherence to relevant policies, procedures and legislation.
* Support the development and implementation of improvements and privacy best‐practice approaches in processes and procedures.
* Maintain and file records in accordance with information management processes and security requirements.
* Assist senior staff in exercising delegated decision‐making in line with legislation, guidelines, delegations and scope of authority.
* Support and mentor staff, including coaching and training to build knowledge and capability.
* Manage workloads for yourself and others, including setting work priorities and direction.

Qualifications and capabilities

* Legislation, policies, procedures and information‐management requirements relevant to the work area, including understanding how these frameworks apply to day‐to‐day operations and decision‐making.
* Ability to Support and mentor others, contributing to capability development and fostering a positive and collaborative work environment.
* Plan, organise and prioritise work effectively, managing competing priorities and adjusting approach as circumstances change.
* Communicate clearly and effectively, adapting communication style to suit the audience and context.
* Build strong working relationships and engage constructively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
* Demonstrate initiative and sound judgement, applying effective problem‐solving skills to identify issues and develop practical solutions.
* Apply high levels of accuracy and attention to detail when completing tasks and reviewing work.
