Job Overview

This is a senior role within the payroll team responsible for managing day-to-day activities, developing and implementing policies and procedures to enable high-quality pay and conditions administration and customer service to staff.

">

The Assistant Director of Payroll will be required to interact daily with AEC employees and management, requiring strong communication, management, and customer service skills.

">

To excel in this role, you must have experience in leading and managing service-oriented teams, building team capability, and encouraging career development. You must effectively manage competing priorities, deliver high-quality outputs, and provide excellent customer service to managers and staff.

">

You will undertake complex conditions of service and payroll investigations and reporting, liaise with external service providers and government agencies, and promote workplace safety, equity, and diversity.

Key Responsibilities

* Develop and implement policies and procedures that enable high-quality pay and conditions administration and customer service to staff.

* Manage day-to-day activities of the payroll team.

* Interact with AEC employees and management on a daily basis.

Requirements

As a key member of our payroll team, you will need to demonstrate:

">

Experience in leading and managing service-oriented teams, building team capability, and encouraging career development.

Communication Skills

Strong communication, management, and customer service skills.

Problem-Solving Skills

">

Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, deliver high-quality outputs, and provide excellent customer service to managers and staff.

Knowledge and Experience

">

Demonstrated experience and knowledge in complex payroll administration in a government environment, sound judgment, analytical skills, and organizational and communication skills.

">

Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or similar field, knowledge and experience working in HR within a public service environment, and experience with Aurion and TechOne.

">

Eligibility

">

Australian citizenship is required. Applicants are required to consent to, undergo, obtain, and maintain a character clearance.
