Data Migration - Local Government WFH
Crisdale Recruitment is excited to partner with one of Western Australia's progressive Regional Shire, recruiting this newly created position of Data Migration officer. Our client has recently commenced the roll out of their recent ERP - Digital Transformation, to support the organisation's transition to the new company-wide platform we are seeking the expertise of a Data Migration Officer to coordinate & manage all data migration activities for the implementation that their new ERP brings to the organisation.
Joining the Digital Transformation team in the role of Data Migration officer, you will contribute to and understand the objectives for the implementation of the new ERP system working collaboratively with the selected ERP software vendors and internal stakeholders to achieve the smooth Data Migration into the new enterprise system.
A big part of this role you will be: Designing and executing migration plans | Developing and operating migration tools. Ensuring data quality, accuracy and compliance throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- DATA MIGRATION PLANNING AND COORDINATION: Attain an understanding of the flow of data through the Shire's new ERP system. Design, plan and manage the data migration process for the implementation of the Shire's new ERP System, Develop a comprehensive migration plan, within scope, available budget and resources. Map legacy data fields to target fields in the new ERP system. Coordinate project team members to meet data migration deliverables. Monitor migration progress, manage risks and potential impacts.
- DATA COLLECTION, CLEANSING, AND TRANSFORMATION: Undertake data collection, prepare and collect data from various sources for transfer to the new ERP. Develop and implement best practice processes, standards, and documentation for all data migration activities. Create, operate, and validate migration tools and scripts for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL). Test and validate loaded data to assure data accuracy and successful migration.
- STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT: Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, internal business units, and external vendors. Apply sound communication skills to resolve minor issues, escalating issues as required.
- COMPLIANCE, RECORDKEEPING, AND REPORTING: Maintain accurate and compliant records of all migration activities, databases, and registers, ensuring they are accessible as required. Ensure strict compliance with all legislative, policy, and regulatory requirements, including Local Government Act 1995 (WA), State Records Act 2000 (WA), WHS legislation, relevant ICT security standards. Report progress and risks to project stakeholders and provide updates to management and project boards. Capture lessons learned and best practices to inform future ERP initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Required Criteria:
- Tertiary qualification in IT, Computer Science, Data Management, or equivalent industry experience.
- At least 5 year's experience in data migration, database management, or information systems implementation (preferably in local government, ERP, or regulatory settings).
- Proficient in data modelling, analysis, and quality assurance.
- Strong knowledge of master data management in service-oriented architecture.
- Experienced in designing and optimising ETL processes using industry-standard tools and custom scripts.
- Skilled in executing and validating SQL queries.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and procedural.
- Proactive problem-solver with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
- Works independently and collaboratively with a strong work ethic.
