Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.
Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Salary: $73,089.64 per annum (plus industry allowance)

Council is seeking a qualified Mechanic to join our workshop team.
The applicant should have experience with various large and small plant and equipment items as well as EV, Phev and IC passenger vehicles.
Some of the tasks of the position include:
* Be a good team player and work to assist in the overall productivity of the workshop.
* Be able to diagnose and repair mechanical faults on a wide variety of Plant & Fleet, while ensuring all OHS standards are adhered to.
* Price and arrange parts from suppliers.
* Work closely with outside stakeholders where external maintenance is required.
* Provide courteous and professional customer service.
* Assist is developing recommendations for sale and purchase of plant items.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
* The holding of and continuing to hold a license to drive a motor vehicle and heavy rigid truck in Victoria is a mandatory requirement of the position.
* The holding of and continuing to hold a licence to perform high risk work LF classification (Forklift) in Victoria is a mandatory requirement of the position.
* The holding of and continuing to hold a OHS competency qualification LB classified (Loader/Backhoe) in Victoria is a mandatory requirement of the position.
