What will you be doing?
Fermentation and Blending
- Independently oversee and perform fermentation for both commercial production and R&D; purposes.
- Plan and perform R&D.;
- Oversee commercial blending process and assist the operators if needed.
- Ensure all practices uphold the highest standards of feed safety at all times.
- Maintain bioreactors.
Quality Control
- Conduct quality control testing to meet FAMI-QS, NASAA, Assure quality and other required standards under the direction of the Quality Manager.
- Actively participate in the continual improvement of quality assurance systems, including documentation and implementation.
- Assist with batch record close‑out, deviation reports, Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs) and change controls.
- Assist in internal and external quality audits.
Experimental Design and Execution
- Exercise technical discretion in the design, execution, and interpretation of experiments that contribute to project goals.
- Ensure appropriate handling and maintenance of samples, materials, and equipment.
Training and Mentorship
- Train associate staff in fermentation and bioprocessing competencies, as well as other laboratory skills such as quality control testing.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
Research & Development
- Complete duties related to research and development efforts as assigned from time to time.
- Design, implement, execute and report on scientific research and development projects in collaboration with the larger research team.
- Contribute to product development including the selection of packaging and the production of technical scientific information.
What do you need?
- Tertiary qualifications e. Bachelor of (applied) Science. minimum.
- Relevant manufacturing experience in bioprocess/scientific manufacturing - minimum 5 years.
- Microbiology: Proficient in plate counts, microbial cultures, basic microscopy, and pathogen testing.
- Molecular Biology: Experienced in DNA and RNA extractions, PCR, real -time.
- Great aseptic techniques and experience in growing bacterial.
- Proficient in aerobic bioreactor operations and freeze‑drying.
- Experienced in commissioning and maintaining laboratory scale.
- Competent in quality control procedure.
- Accurate record‑keeping in accordance with applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
