Finance Business Manager
Location: Sydney
Salary: $250,000 FTE + Super (pro-rata for 3 months)

A prestigious and well-established organisation in the education sector is seeking an experienced Finance Business Manager for a short-term 3-month contract. This is an immediate start role providing high-level financial and operational support to the executive team.

Role responsibilities

* Maintain strong accounting systems, controls and transparent financial processes
* Lead the preparation and coordination of annual operational and capital budgets
* Monitor financial performance, analyse variances and provide clear insights to senior management
* Produce timely monthly management reports across key projects and cost centres
* Develop and refine KPI frameworks to support financial performance tracking
* Manage payroll operations; act as back-up for Payroll Officer and Accounting Manager when needed
* Improve and standardise financial and operational processes to support day-to-day efficiency
* Review policies and procedures to ensure compliance and best practice
* Conduct internal audits to strengthen risk management and governanceIdentify opportunities to enhance cost effectiveness across the school
* Support ICT and the Finance SMS module implementation where required
* Assist with business modelling and financial reporting for new initiatives
* Allocate tasks, manage workflow and ensure timely delivery of team outputs
* Provide feedback and support to develop team capability and quality of work
* Uphold child-safety standards and comply with all school policies and procedures
* Maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in all financial and operational decisions
* Contribute to a safe, positive and professional school environment

Ideal Candidate

* Experience in Education is highly desirable
* Senior operations leader with experience in finance
* Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
* Proven ability to improve processes and organisational performance
* Skilled in budgeting, forecasting and operational reporting
* Experienced in managing teams and stakeholders
* Highly professional, proactive and strategic thinker
