Overview

Project Officer - National Redress Scheme role at Department of Justice and Community Safety, Victoria. This is a Fixed-Term, Full-Time opportunity in the Victorian Public Service until 30 June 2027.

About This Role

About The Business Unit

Victim Services, Support and Reform (VSSR) is part of the Police, Racing, Victims and Coordination Group within the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS). VSSR delivers and reforms services to victims of crime, placing victims at the centre of our justice system, including programs like the Victims of Crime Helpline, Victims Register and the Victims Assistance Program. The National Redress Scheme Operations Team sits within VSSR and coordinates the Victorian Government’s participation in the National Redress Scheme for people who have experienced Institutional Child Sexual Abuse.

The National Redress Scheme

- acknowledges that many children were sexually abused in Australian institutions
- holds institutions accountable for this abuse
- helps people who have experienced institutional child sexual abuse gain access to counselling, a direct personal response, and a Redress payment.

About The Role

The Project Officer will work collaboratively with stakeholders within the Victorian and Commonwealth Governments focusing on the participation of the Victorian Government in the National Redress Scheme.

Some Of Your Duties Will Include

- Coordinate the Victorian Government's participation in the National Redress Scheme by undertaking key operational processes, including reading applications for redress, allocating applications to the responsible institution, completing templates for information requests, monitoring applications, reviewing responses, updating databases, reporting and analysing data.
- Provide project management capability to assist in whole-of-government coordination of the National Redress Scheme, including secretariat services for committees and working groups.
- Prepare advice and analysis to influence decisions of governance bodies, including interdepartmental and interjurisdictional committees and working groups.

About You

As our ideal candidate, you will possess:

- Proven analytical skills with a strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated organisational and project management skills
- Demonstrated capability to provide secretariat support
- Valuable working knowledge and experience in using Microsoft Excel

Qualifications/Requirements

- Experience and/or a tertiary qualification in a relevant field is desirable.
