The Role
The Office of the Inspector-General of the Australian Defence Force (IGADF) is seeking a high-performing senior executive to fill the Assistant Secretary Enabling Functions position. The IGADF is an independent statutory office holder appointed under the Defence Act 1903 to provide the Minister for Defence and Chief of the Defence Force with an internal audit and review of the military justice system independent of the ordinary chain of command and an avenue by which alleged failures of the system, systemic or otherwise, may be examined and brought to the attention of command as necessary. The IGADF, and their Office, is a Commonwealth Integrity Agency under the National Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2022.
As part of the Office of the IGADF Senior Leadership Group, you will play a key role in promoting and influencing a shared commitment to the strategic direction of the Office of the IGADF. You will:
* Lead and empower a high performing team, providing the resources, guidance and development they need to excel;
* Work collaboratively across the organisation to lift capability and drive strong outcomes;
* Deliver high quality strategic advice to the IGADF, Deputy IGADF and senior leaders on operations, priorities and emerging issues for the Office of the IGADF;
* Use sound judgement and innovative thinking to solve complex problems;
* Challenge existing approaches when improvement is needed, bringing a constructive and solutions focused mindset;
* Act with integrity and make ethical, well considered decisions;
* Show resilience and accountability, ensuring high quality results through strong engagement and partnership.
The role is responsible for leading the corporate enablement and governance functions of the Office. You will:
* Provide complementary leadership to the IGADF and Deputy IGADF to support cohesive and effective operations;
* Enable the performance of the statutory functions of the IGADF by ensuring strong corporate, governance and strategic foundations;
* Oversee the delivery of complex case advice, resources and training to ensure all matters and stakeholders across the Office of the IGADF are engaged in a trauma informed manner;
* Draft and clear Ministerial, Executive and other high level correspondence;
* Develop and implement strategies and programs of work that support the IGADF to fulfil their statutory responsibilities, broader strategic objectives and any additional functions assigned by the IGADF; and
* Lead corporate reforms associated with the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide and the Twenty Year Review of the Office of the IGADF.
To achieve these outcomes, the role delivers enabling functions across the Office of the IGADF, including:
* Business and financial management, governance, property, security, records and information management, and work health and safety and wellbeing;
* Strategic human resource management; and
* Provision and oversight of complex case advice across the Office.
