Position Overview
Responsible for assisting with a variety of manual handling tasks on-site, including physical tasks, maintenance, and general support duties. This role is suitable for individuals with a strong work ethic, in good shape and with the ability to follow instructions, and the willingness to work as part of a team and unsupervised. This position is located within the Burnie area in Tasmania. Labourers play a vital role in ensuring that work sites operate smoothly and safely.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Performing manual handling, physical tasks, and general labour as required.
· Loading and unloading materials, tools, and equipment.
· Assisting technicians and supervisors with tasks as directed.
· Maintaining cleanliness and order on the worksite.
· Operating basic hand and power tools.
· Adhering to workplace health and safety standards and procedures.
Key Skills and Requirements
· Physical fitness and stamina for manual labour.
· Ability to follow instructions and work well in a team and unsupervised.
· Reliability, punctuality, and a positive attitude.
· Basic understanding of safety practices on work sites.
· Previous experience in a similar role is an advantage but not essential.
· Forklift licence is an advantage but not essential.
· Valid driver's licence with the ability to travel to site locations.
Working Conditions
Labourers typically work outdoors and may be exposed to varied weather conditions. The role may involve early starts, overtime, and shift work depending on project needs. Safety equipment and training are provided, and adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
Salary and Benefits
Remuneration is competitive at $40.00 per hour. Benefits may include penalty rates for weekend or public holiday work and with the opportunity for this position to become full-time.
