We are seeking a passionate, driven and knowledgeable Assistant Director, who has the experience and desire to lead, support and manage our team of Educators, and help with the day-to-day running of our unique 64 place early learning Centre, Como Park Childcare & Kindergarten in Lilydale.
This is a unique position where the Assistant Director/21C role supports and compliments the existing and established management team; Director, 2lC-Administration officer, 2IC-Educational Leader and the extended educator team.
Your focus will be to support our Centre Director on a day-to-day basis.
Our expectations are that our Assistant Director will oversee and ensure that the workplace operates within OH&S requirements, drives selected elements of the service and our QIP alongside ensuring the duty of care for children and their families is strictly maintained. You will also be expected to act as the Director of the service in the absence of our Centre Director, and always lead by example.
All training on Centre systems is provided.
Experience & Responsibilities/Selection Criteria
Minimum 3 years’ experience in leading a room/mentoring a team or as an Assistant Director/ Educational leader or above.
A sound understanding and application of the Early Years Learning Framework.
Experience in overseeing and implementing a program based on children's needs and interests.
A strong understanding of compliance and of National Quality Standards (NQF).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Sound experience in supporting the staff management of a medium to large childcare service.
The ability to support and work collaboratively with your team and assist and support the Centre Director in the general day-to-day running of the service.
The ability to manage and lead community engagement.
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
Minimum of a Diploma of Children's Services.
Current approved first aid, anaphylaxis and asthma qualifications.
Current Employment Working with Children Check.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
The ability to lead in a classroom environment.
A sound understanding of the EYLF and NQF.
