About the Role
Provide civil engineering support and operate the EPB Tunnel Boring Machine on the River Torrens to Darlington (T2D) project. The T2D project involves the construction of a 10.5-kilometre motorway, with three lanes in each direction and including tunnel sections, linking the River Torrens area in the north to Darlington in the south of Adelaide.
Key Responsibilities
* Mnitor and analyse TBM parameters (face pressure, torque, thrust, spoil removal, etc.) to support civil engineers and ensure adherence to project timelines and compliance to safety standards and technical requirements.
* Coordinate with civil engineers, segment erectors, and conveyor personnel to maintain continuous operations according to production schedules and timelines, as well as applying appropriate procedures and selecting correct equipment.
* Continuously observing and analysing live data and adjusting parameters such as face pressure, torque, thrust, and spoil removal to ensure efficient and safe tunnelling.
* Diagnose and report technical issues to senior civil engineering staff
* Ensuring the completed work satisfies the civil infrastructure projects' specifications, regulations and contract provisions
* Organising and coordinating maintenance and repair work of the TBM equipment.
* Follow all safety regulations and environmental controls
* Maintain accurate shift logs, tabulations and reports to assist with production planning
* Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety briefings
* Ensure proper handover between shifts
Qualifications & Experience
* Relevant trade qualification or diploma
* Significant demonstrated experience in the operation of Tunnel Boring Machines
* 5+ years in TBM Operation
* Strong understanding of TBM operational systems including hydraulics, electrics, and PLC interfaces
* Ability to read and interpret tunnelling data, instrumentation, and geological reports
* Must be safety-conscious and able to work in a team
* Flexibility to work in shifts and rotational schedules
* Valid certifications for confined space, working at heights, and first aid are a plus
* Quantitative and qualitative risk assessment and monitoring of risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects
* Advanced skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite; Primavera 6 etc
* Written, verbal and presentation skills e.g. facilitating meetings, pre-starts and tool box meetings and basic cost control skills
