The Casual Shop Assistant is responsible for providing friendly and welcoming customer service while supporting the day-to-day operations of the shop. This role ensures customers have a positive experience and that transactions are processed accurately and efficiently. The position also contributes to maintaining a clean, organised and inviting retail environment.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Hospitality & Customer Service**
Greet customers warmly and respectfully
Assist customers with product enquiries and purchases
Foster a welcoming, inclusive and culturally sensitive environment
**Sales & Transactions**
Operate the Point of Sale (POS) system (training provided)
Process cash and EFTPOS transactions accurately
Issue receipts and follow shop procedures
Assist with end-of-shift cash reconciliation (if required)
**Shop Presentation**
Maintain a clean, tidy and organised shop space
Restock shelves and assist with merchandising displays
Monitor stock levels and report shortages to the Duty Manager
Follow basic Workplace Health and Safety practices
