Environmental Leadership Role
The role of the Senior Environment Officer is a critical position that plays a key lead role in relation to environmental projects and ongoing operational environmental compliance.
This permanent full-time position is located onsite at a power station, requiring the individual to manage environmental investigations and compliance, analyse and interpret environmental monitoring data, and provide meaningful environmental advice to internal stakeholders.
* Main Responsibilities:
* Manage environmental investigations and compliance
* Analyse, interpret and manage environmental monitoring data, providing meaningful environmental advice to internal stakeholders
* Support the implementation of the Environmental Management System to ISO14001 standard
* Engage with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders
* Assist in the day-to-day management of environmental compliance with relevant licences and approvals
* Undertake internal audits and inspections
* Prepare compliance reports and presentations
* Coordinate modifications to approvals and variations to existing licences
* Contractor management
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have tertiary qualifications in Science, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline, as well as previous experience in a heavy industrial setting, preferably in a power station or mining environment.
You will also require experience in environmental monitoring and water management, including organisational representation to regulators, local governments, and community groups.
A strong ability to build relationships with stakeholders, such as residents, government officials, regulatory, and licencing authorities, is essential for this role.
Furthermore, you will need to have extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework applying to environmental and water management and development approvals.
