The role
The ANZ Tax Manager, based in Melbourne, assists the ANZ Tax Lead in overseeing the tax affairs for the ANZ Region. This full-time position will play a critical role in managing transfer pricing and Pillar 2 requirements, supporting SMEC's operations both locally and internationally.
The Tax Manager will assist management of corporate, group and international tax affairs, with responsibility for the following key areas:
* Ensure compliance with local and international tax regulations of the ANZ Region (including direct, indirect tax, CFC and tax effect accounting).
* Business partnering by providing tax advice and tax support to the ANZ Region for products, projects including restructuring, legal entity review and ETR reduction projects, etc.
* Develop and implement transfer pricing strategies, ensuring compliance with Australian and international tax regulations.
* Lead Pillar 2 compliance, including analysis, reporting, and implementation of global minimum tax requirements.
* Ensures expert co-ordination of annual R&D tax incentive claim process and liaison with external R&D advisors and internal project managers.
* Assist with co-ordination and oversight of quarterly management service fees and charge to global subsidiaries/allocation to branches.
* Ensure successful migration of current ERP tax processes / controls to SAP and to incorporate new tax controls and processes where required.
With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in a company that has tax affairs covering both Australia and overseas.Suitable applicants will have/be:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification preferred.
* Minimum of 5 years' experience in tax management, with specific expertise in transfer pricing and Pillar 2 requirements.
* Strong understanding of Australian and international tax laws and regulations.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
* Proven ability to manage complex projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication skills to liaise with stakeholders at all levels.
* Experience in the engineering, construction, or consulting industry is a plus. Able to undertake some travel (domestic or international).
