About the Role - EL1 Financial Operations Assistant Director
The NIAA is establishing a modern in-house Financial Operations function and is seeking an experienced finance leader to support high-quality, compliant services across Accounts & Expense, Payroll Operations and Financial Systems. This new leadership role will guide operational service delivery, drive strategic improvements, and support the transition from a shared services model.
The Assistant Director will provide expert financial advice, oversee complex activities, build strong partnerships across enabling services, and develop team capability to deliver efficient, accurate and transparent financial operations that align with legislative and policy requirements.
Key Duties
* Lead delivery of financial operational services across accounts, payroll or financial systems.
* Provide strategic financial advice, supporting effective decision making across the Agency.
* Shape and improve processes, policies, SOPs and governance frameworks.
* Support the transition of financial services to an in-house model, ensuring continuity and service quality.
* Strengthen compliance, audit readiness, risk management and quality assurance.
* Prepare briefs, reports and documentation for the Director, Executive and governance committees.
* Build strong stakeholder relationships across finance, HR, ICT and external providers.
* Mentor and develop junior staff, supporting a positive culture and professional growth.
Skills & Experience
* Demonstrated expertise across financial operations, payroll, financial systems or accounts.
* Proven ability to lead teams, build capability and drive improvements in complex environments.
* Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience advising senior executives.
* Ability to analyse data, develop policy, and recommend solutions that improve service delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to deliver strategic projects or change initiatives.
Eligibility / Requirements
* Qualifications or experience in Finance, Payroll, HR or a related discipline.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance or higher.
* Commitment to cultural safety, accountability and values-driven leadership.
