Why This Role Exists
This Australian retail business has grown rapidly across stores, supply chain, warehousing, digital and operations, however the underlying enterprise architecture capability has not evolved at the same pace.
Many systems remain fragmented. Point-to-point integrations exist across critical platforms. Some applications are poorly documented.
There is no enterprise-wide integration layer currently connecting core operational systems.
At the same time, the organisation is already operating one of the more advanced AI capability environments in Australian retail.
A formal AI Centre of Excellence is in place, with more than 60 AI skills already deployed across the business using Anthropic's Claude platform alongside Microsoft Fabric and Edison capabilities.
Importantly, AI is not being treated as experimentation or innovation theatre. Leadership, including the CEO and CIO, are actively engaged in how AI becomes embedded into operational workflows, enterprise systems and future business capability.
Leadership also recognises that AI will only scale successfully if the underlying architecture, integration and data foundations are strong.
That is why this role exists.
The Opportunity
The business is now looking for someone capable of strengthening the enterprise foundations required for the next phase of scale, operational maturity, integration, data capability and future AI enablement.
You'll work closely with an experienced CIO and executive leadership team to help shape enterprise direction across platforms, systems, integrations, operational technology, data flows and future-state architecture.
Importantly, this is not an ivory-tower architecture role disconnected from delivery and operational reality.
This environment is commercially fast-moving, operationally complex and highly interconnected.
The organisation needs someone pragmatic, capable of balancing strategic thinking with real business outcomes across retail operations, logistics, warehousing, supply chain and enterprise technology.
The organisation operates nationally with thousands of employees across stores, logistics, warehousing, supply chain and corporate operations.
Technology is becoming increasingly central to how the business scales, improves customer experience and modernises enterprise capability.
The Enterprise Architect will play a key role in making that future scalable.
