About the role:
We are seeking an experienced Chef to join the friendly and supportive team at our Juniper Korumup team in Albany. This is a fixed-term position to cover paternity leave for 6 months starting in October.
The purpose of this role is to prepare high-quality, nutritious meals that meet dietary requirements. You will work within a team of catering staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. You will ensure meals are of excellent quality and that a safe food service is provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook food
- Clean cooking areas and equipment
- Maintain secure food hygiene practices
- Manage resources – including ordering and stock control
- Manage staff – supervision and delegation as required
- Ensure compliance with Occupational, Safety, and Health requirements
- Engage with residents and participate in facility-based resident meetings to support continuous improvement
Key requirements:
- Trade certificate / Cert 3 or equivalent qualification - desired
- Experience in commercial cooking environment and/or aged care catering - essential
- Current knowledge of Food Safe Plus practices and hygiene standards, quality system requirements, and principles of relevant aged & resident care legislation
- Knowledge of dietary nutrition for the aged
- Understanding of infection control
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
