The Role
As National Procurement Manager, you will lead the procurement of meat proteins (primarily beef), and production consumables across seven processing facilities.
With well over $100M in annual meat procurement, this role is critical to margin protection, supply security, and operational efficiency.
You'll collaborate closely with sales, production, the CEO and directors, to manage supplier relationships, mitigate risk, and implement long-term sourcing strategies.
Key responsibilities
Develop and execute a national procurement strategy across all sites
Lead supplier negotiations and maintain robust, compliant relationships
Balance spot buying with strategic contracts to manage risk and cost
Analyse markets to anticipate price movements and protect margins
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure procurement supports operations
Drive reporting, forecasting, and procurement analytics
Build and lead a small national procurement team
About You
You are a commercially savvy protein procurement / trading expert with deep knowledge of the beef industry and a sharp eye for margin improvement.
Experienced in strategic sourcing and supplier negotiation, you're proactive, data-driven, and skilled at anticipating market shifts.
You bring adaptability, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills suited to both executive and operational settings.
You will need
7+ years' experience in protein procurement or meat trading
Strong understanding of the beef supply chain and global market dynamics
Demonstrated ability to secure commercial supplier agreementsExperience in food manufacturing, FMCG, or perishable goods procurementHigh commercial acumen, risk management, and negotiation skillsA collaborative, grounded approach with a drive for continuous improvementERP systems proficiency (e.g., Pronto, SAP, Dynamics)
The Benefits

Base salary: $150,000–$200,000 + super
Bonus: 30%–50% of base salary (STI)
