Business Development Manager - Seller Acquisition

Apply now Job no: 573768 Work type: Full Time Location: Homebush West Categories: Sales, Retail Administration

The Opportunity

Harvey Norman is an Australian retail institution. Profitable, established and trusted by millions of customers, we've spent decades building a brand Aussies invite into their homes.

Now, we're opening a new door for how online customers shop. The launch of the Harvey Norman 3P Marketplace is our most significant digital evolution yet. It's not a side project or a bolt‐on. It's a brand extension, built with the same exacting standards, expectations and attention to detail Harvey Norman is known for.

We're looking for our first Business Development Manager (Seller Acquisition) to join the founding marketplace team. This is a builder's role. No inherited seller lists. No polishing existing work. You'll help decide what sits behind the door and who is invited in.

What You'll Be Building The pipeline (deciding who gets the keys)

You'll identify, prospect and engage high-quality brands and third‐party sellers across core launch categories.

* You'll look for gaps and opportunities in the market, understanding where the marketplace can best complement Harvey Norman's existing retail offering.
* You'll build and manage a strong acquisition pipeline, with clear visibility on targets, progress and conversion.
The categories (laying solid foundations)

You'll help launch and scale our 10 initial category pillars, including Baby & Kids, Sports, Fitness & Outdoor, Health & Beauty, Home, Stationery & Office, Home Improvement & Garden, Pet Supplies, Toys & Play, and Travel & Luggage.

Once the doors are open, you'll find what's next. Identifying new curated categories, testing opportunities and helping scale the platform to millions of products.

The partnerships (framing lasting deals)

Acting as the primary brand ambassador for the Harvey Norman Marketplace, you'll pitch our digital vision to established market leaders and emerging sellers alike.

You'll negotiate sustainable and profitable commercial terms that work for both sides – and hold up over time.

The handover (seller onboarding)

You'll manage the journey from signed agreement to live seller, working closely with onboarding, technical and operational teams to ensure seamless integration.

You'll ensure every seller meets Harvey Norman's strict standards across product quality, compliance, fulfilment and customer experience. The bar is high on purpose.

The evolution (fine‐tuning the build)

Bringing real‐world insight back into the business, you'll help refine tools, workflows and seller experience as the platform evolves.

You'll work cross‐functionally to shape how the marketplace operates day‐to‐day, including Mirakl‐based processes and platform functionality. If something can work better, you'll help make it so.

Your Tools of The Trade
* 3–5 years' experience in B2B business development or eCommerce acquisition and a clear sense of what moves things forward.
* Commercial confidence to own negotiations end‐to‐end and back your judgement when it counts.
* Comfort without a perfect blueprint, happy working with something half‐built and helping finish it properly.
* Polished, authoritative communication, confidently representing the brand in senior commercial conversations.
* Strong eComm fundamentals, with experience in Mirakl or similar marketplace platforms.
* Pride in the quality of the build, operating with humility and integrity, and valuing doing things properly, so customer trust is never compromised.
Why Harvey Norman Marketplace?
* New territory, firm footing: Build from the ground up with the stability, scale and resources of a global retail leader behind you.
* Set the standards: As the first BDM hire, you'll help set seller standards, shape category direction and define acquisition strategy early. Your early calls will shape what follows.
* Room to grow: This is a genuine ground‐floor opportunity where your scope, influence and career runway grow as the marketplace expands.
What we offer:
* Experience working with an Iconic Australian Brand with global success in NZ, Asia, and Europe.
* A supportive team environment that celebrates diversity and promotes a healthy work and family life balance.
* Opportunities to make discounted purchases on a great range of products and services.

If this role exhilarates your passion for a new opportunity, then please submit your application for consideration.
