Primary objective

Ensure quality service delivery is achieved for Transport Safety and Services throughout the Northern Territory, through

developing, monitoring and managing service delivery contracts.

Context statement

The Transport Safety and Services Division delivers essential transport services across the Northern Territory, including public

buses, ferries, and regional transport, primarily through contracts exceeding $50 million annually. The Division also oversees Motor

Vehicle Registry (MVR) services, road and marine safety, vehicle operations and compliance, ensuring safe, accessible, and reliable

transport systems for all Territorians.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Monitor and manage the provisions of various commercial contracts for Transport Safety and Services throughout the Northern

Territory.

2. Provide high level advice on effective contract management and service delivery for Transport Safety and Services.

1. Oversee, manage and plan budgets for Transport Safety and Services contracted services.
2. Lead the negotiation and resolution of sensitive and/or complex contractual issues and disputes. Negotiate contract variations

using contemporary business analysis and evidence-based information.

1. Ensure high quality contract performance reports, with analysis snapshot, are provided to agency senior executive.
2. Actively contribute to improving current and future public transport arrangements including associated infrastructure.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Highly developed skills and ability to manage high value commercial contracts, budgets and cash flows.

1. Highly developed business, strategic and analytical skills with demonstrated sound judgement in decision-making.
2. Experience collaborating and negotiating with influence at a senior level across a variety of internal and external stakeholders

and policy settings.

1. Oral and written communication skills of a high standard.
2. Demonstrated high level leadership and team building skills, including the ability to build high performing teams, develop

professional skills in staff, and meet critical deadlines.

Desirable

1. Awareness of the Northern Territory public transport environment including objectives and challenges.

2. Formal qualifications in a related discipline such as business, project management or contract management.
