A leading telecommunications provider with operations across Australia is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Engineer to join its engineering team. Your new role
As a Senior Network Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and optimising carrier-grade networks across multiple geographies. You'll manage complex routing, switching, and security infrastructure, troubleshoot critical incidents, and support network expansion projects including international links and POP builds. This role also involves mentoring junior engineers and contributing to technical standards and best practices.
Key responsibilities include:
* Designing and implementing complex network solutions in a service provider environment
* Managing multivendor routing, switching, and security platforms
* Troubleshooting and resolving critical network incidents
* Capacity planning, performance tuning, and network optimisation
* Supporting network expansion projects and documenting technical procedures
* Engaging with internal stakeholders, customers, and suppliers to deliver fault resolution and project outcomes
What you'll need to succeed
* 10+ years of network engineering experience, with at least 5 in a service provider/carrier environment
* Professional certifications such as CCNP Enterprise, CCNP Service Provider, JNCIP, etc.
* Strong expertise in BGP, OSPF, MPLS, IPSEC, STP, GRE, Layer 2 switching, VOIP and SIP
* Solid understanding of network security principles and implementation
* Experience with network monitoring, automation, and performance tools
* Australian citizenship (essential for compliance and security requirements)
Preferred skills:
* Hands-on experience with MikroTik, Cisco, and Fortinet platforms
* Exposure to DWDM/OTN optical transport technologies
* Knowledge of IPv6 and dual-stack operations
* Experience with cloud networking and data centre interconnects
