Role
Caffe & Co Oran Park is looking for an individual who can oversee the restaurant's kitchen by effectively managing other kitchen and food preparation team members whilst deciding what dishes to serve and adjusting orders to meet guests' requests.
The individual will assist in prep-work but will also cook specialty dishes that require changes due to seasons. In doing so, choosing the right ingredients and designing a menu based on availability, popularity and demand will be essential to the role.
All work will be conducted in a fully functioning, very clean and organised kitchen. Applicants must have the ability to work well under pressure and time constraints, with knowledge of different varieties of foods and ingredients, communication skills, and the ability to accept customer feedback to improve future experiences.
Responsibilities & Duties
* Plan and oversee the preparation, cooking, and presentation of all café-style menu items, including breakfast dishes, brunch plates, salads, burgers, pastas, desserts, and specialty items.
* Set up the kitchen each day with required utensils, equipment, and ingredients, ensuring all stations are properly stocked and operational.
* Collaborate with the Director and Executive Chef to contribute to menu planning, seasonal updates, and the development of new dishes that reflect the brand's standards and customer preferences.
* Monitor food quality, portion size, taste, temperature, and presentation to ensure all dishes are delivered consistently and in accordance with Caffe & Co's expectations.
* Carry out food preparation tasks, including cutting, marinating, mixing, cooking, and plating, while verifying that each order meets required standards before service.
* Coordinate cooking times and workflow to ensure meals are delivered promptly and that items within the same order are completed simultaneously.
* Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment at all times, including workstations, equipment, fridges, and storage areas.
* Assist the Director with recruitment and training activities for new kitchen staff, including shortlisting, interviewing, onboarding, and skill development.
* Monitor stock levels and ensure adequate supplies of ingredients, beverages, and kitchen products are available to meet daily service requirements.
* Provide guidance to junior kitchen staff on cooking techniques, food handling procedures, and menu specifications.
* Support the Director with day-to-day operational tasks, including staff coordination, kitchen planning, and workflow management.
* Enforce all food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards, ensuring compliance with NSW and local council health regulations.
* Adhere to all workplace health and safety policies, reporting hazards and ensuring safe use of kitchen equipment at all times.
* Participate in daily kitchen meetings, contribute suggestions for improvement, and uphold Caffe & Co's commitment to high-quality service and customer satisfaction.
Skills & Qualifications
* AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2).
* 3 years of work experience.
* Ability to handle busy service and ensure quality of food is maintained. Work in a fast-paced environment.
* Hardworking, positive attitude.
* Ability to work within a team and independently. Be available for weekdays, weekends, and nights.

Salary
Salary: $75,000 - $78,000 ($76,515)
