About the role
We are currently recruiting a Zone Substation Electrical Technician to join our Transmission Riverina team based in Wagga Wagga.
The Zone Substation Electrical Technician is responsible for the construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, inspecting, testing, and reporting on the nature and condition of network assets, as well as the installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment.
Key responsibilities
* Construction and maintenance of Zone Substations
* Installation, commissioning, and testing of associated Zone Substation and distribution equipment
* Carrying out switching operations associated with both high and low voltage engineering services
* Inspecting, testing, and reporting on the nature and condition of network assets to maintain quality standards
* Accessing and using computerised systems to operate remote equipment
* Operating plant and equipment associated with Zone Substations in a safe manner
About You
As a Zone Substation Electrical Technician, you will demonstrate practical application of relevant qualifications. You will be capable of coordinating and managing construction and maintenance of Zone Substations, as well as the installation, commissioning, and testing of Zone Substation equipment. Willingness to travel and work away from home is essential.
Required Qualifications/Skills
* Trade qualified Electrician with a current electrical licence
* Driver’s licence
* WorkCover NSW Construction Induction Certificate
* Diploma in ESI Power Systems with preferred electives in Testing Systems (desirable)
* High voltage, transmission, or power systems experience (desirable)
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment
* Basic skills in computer operations
* Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with stakeholders and customers effectively
* Willingness to travel and work away from home
