About the role
Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager and QAQC Chemist, the Laboratory Technician is
responsible for processing and analysing client samples through to the recording of analytical results;
and preparing reports to ensure compliance with Intertek operating procedures, ISO17025 standard and
Client requirements in a timely and efficient manner.
Key Responsibilities:
• Weighing mineral samples for analysis in the laboratory and fire assay sections, using the catch
weight system.
• Conduct analysis using a variety of digestion, dissolution and fusion methods testing in accordance
with laboratory work instructions and test methods.
• Digestion of fire assay gold prills in accordance with laboratory work instructions.
• Making of laboratory acidic and other chemical solutions used for digestions.
• Cleaning of laboratory equipment.
• Ensure all sampling, testing and analysis is conducted safely and accurately to maintain consistent
quality standards.
• Complete work in a timely manner by following the priorities set, this includes but is not limited to
picking up of samples, sample preparation and laboratory duties.
• Perform sample preparation when required
Qualifications / Experience / Skills:
* Previous laboratory experience desirable
* Laboratory certification highly regarded
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to work within a small team to achieve key objectives
* Strong organisational skills
* Ability to develop and implement appropriate procedures
* Computer literacy skills are required
* Committed and reliable.
