Cleaner/Handyperson – Full-Time, Permanent role
$36.73 per hour + Superannuation

Help us keep Wodonga clean, safe, and welcoming. We’re looking for a practical, hands-on team member to join our Outdoor Operations team. As a Cleaner/Handyperson, you’ll be out and about across Wodonga each day—helping to keep our streets, parks and public spaces clean, safe and well-maintained for the whole community.
Responsibilities
- Maintain public spaces: sweep streets and footpaths, empty bins, pressure wash shelters and remove graffiti. Operate plant and equipment such as the street sweeper and blowers to keep the city clean and welcoming for residents and visitors.
- Carry out repairs and upkeep: paint, stain or repair park benches and playground equipment, replace signage or fittings, and maintain hard landscape features to extend the life of community assets.
- Support gardens and green spaces: assist with planting, weeding, mulching, pruning and irrigation in collaboration with the gardens team.
- Engage safely and respectfully: follow safe work procedures, handle chemicals responsibly, manage traffic, and interact with residents and visitors in a positive and approachable way.

Key Selection Criteria
Our ideal candidate will be able to show us the following:
- Certificate II or III in Asset Maintenance (Cleansing Operations) or equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
- Demonstrated experience in hard landscape maintenance, building and/or carpentry experience and 3 years experience within the cleaning industry.
- Proven ability to follow instructions and work according to established processes.
- Ability to provide good customer service and ensure the quality of work outputs.

Pre-employment Requirements
- A copy of a recent National Police Check (less than 3 months)
- A current driver’s licence
- Any other mandatory requirements outlined in the position description (eg. first aid, CPR, WWCC, forklift)
- The completion of a pre-employment functional assessment (paid for by the council)
