As a Geologist, you will play a key role in ensuring timely and reliable geological input to the mine.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading coal mined and crushed performance with a focus on productivity, quality, and handleability through processing.
* Lead coal recovery in line with reserved tonnages and qualities.
* Conduct routine inspections of pits and stockpiles, providing guidance and feedback to planning and production teams on coal mining practices.
* Develop daily coal mining, stockpiling, and feed plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain accurate in-pit and ROM coal inventory movements for up-to-date, short-term scheduling.
* Improve reconciliation processes to enhance efficiency.
* Support conventional mine geology processes, including data collection and interpretation.
* Undertake projects and investigations to identify improvement initiatives and provide support in delivering outcomes and achieving improvements.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* A degree in Geology or Mining Engineering, or demonstrated relevant experience.
* Open Cut Coal mining geology experience, preferably in the Hunter Valley or multi-seam mining.
* Experience in a coal mining or coal planning role is advantageous.
* Knowledge of coal quality and beneficiation.
* Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with people from all backgrounds at all levels within the organization.
* Ability to analyze data and observations, providing clear and practical advice.
* Confidence in numerical analysis, writing, and using geological software tools.
