The Head Visual Merchandiser is responsible for developing and implementing innovative visual merchandising strategies that enhance brand identity, drive sales, and create an engaging shopping experience. This role oversees the planning, execution, and maintenance of all in-store displays, as well as creating and executing planograms. The ideal candidate possesses strong creative vision, leadership abilities, and a keen understanding of customer behaviour and market trends.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and execute creative visual merchandising strategies aligned with brand identity and business objectives.
Lead a team of 18 visual merchandisers, providing training, guidance, IT support and performance management.
Oversee store layouts and in-store presentation to ensure a cohesive brand image.
Design and execute visual merchandising plans, space management strategies that optimize product presentation and promote brand storytelling
Collaborate with marketing, sales, and buying teams via National Account Manager to align merchandising strategies with promotional campaigns.
Conduct regular store visits to evaluate and enhance visual merchandising execution and adherence to guidelines.
Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and customer preferences to drive innovation in visual merchandising, reporting findings back to NAMs.
Manage the budget for visual merchandising initiatives, ensuring cost-effective solutions without compromising quality.
Work closely with store managers, account managers, buyers, product team, marketing team and other internal departments to ensure effective implementation of merchandising strategies.
Develop training materials and workshops to enhance the visual merchandising skills of store teams.
Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring co-ordination with other internal departments
Support new store openings, refurbishments, and relocations by planning and executing effective visual merchandising layouts and display strategies
Review store setup photos and merchandising execution regularly, providing constructive feedback and identifying opportunities to drive conversion and maximise sales
Ensure compliance with company guidelines and health & safety standards in visual presentations.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Visual Merchandising, Fashion Design, Retail Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 4 years of experience in visual merchandising, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong creative and artistic vision with a keen eye for detail.
Excellent leadership, communication, and project management skills.
Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp) is an advantage.
Ability to analyse sales data and translate insights into effective merchandising strategies.
Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
Willingness to travel for store visits and visual merchandising rollouts.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly advanced Excel skills for data analysis
Valid driver's licence required for regular store visits and interstate travel
Retail store and corporate office environment.
Travel required to oversee multiple local and interstate locations.
Hands-on work with merchandise and display setups
Must have the right to work in Australia
