Overview

We recruit the best talent and invest in their ongoing development, through training and mentoring. We provide opportunities to work across our national network. dnata catering U.S. is looking for a Specialty Cook [Indian cuisine] to join our Brisbane team supporting the SFO.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Experience in producing high-volume, high-quality food from menus.
* Must have experience with various cooking duties – (grilling, preparing sauces, etc.).
* Operating traditional Indian cooking including items such as meat and breads.
* Preparing Indian curries, sauces, and desserts as per standard and style set by the Head Chef(s).
* Regulating temperatures of ovens, grills, burners/pans, and other cooking equipment.
* Able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of traditional Indian cuisine including desserts.
* Ensure the correct preparation and presentation standard of the dishes is always maintained.
* Demonstrating tandoor techniques and cooking procedures to other staff if required.
* Storing food in temperature-controlled freezers.
* Checking on food supplies and advising the supervisor of any requirements.
* Knowledge of HACCP/GMP is a plus; must comply with proper food handling policies and procedures.

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

* Other duties as assigned by unit Supervisors.

This salary range is influenced by the level of experience. When calculating the base pay, we take into account various factors such as location, qualifications, training, and experience as part of the overall compensation package. [$26 hour]

YOU HAVE

EDUCATION

Minimum of an Associate's Degree or three (2) years in culinary field or appropriate continuing education experience and relevant work experience.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience in producing Indian cuisine.
* Flexibility to perform assigned tasks independently or as part of a team.
* Formal training in food safety; regulatory compliance a plus.
* HACCP knowledge.
* Excellent attention to detail and self-organization.
* Ability to deal with a heavy workload.
* Ability to accurately monitor.
* Flexibility (different shifts – night, weekends, holidays).
* Attention to detail.
* Ability to work with tight deadlines.
* Ability to work effectively with others in a team environment.
* Strong prioritization skills and the ability to perform multiple tasks.
* Valid food handler's certificate or equivalent.

Intellectual/Social demands

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is continuously asked to multi-task under time limits. Position requires constant attention to precise details and accuracy of specified standards including following simple to complex (more than 3 steps) instructions, and concentration which frequently extends beyond 30 minutes at a time. This position also requires constant attendance and punctuality – is consistently at work and on time. Follows instructions, responds to management direction; takes responsibility for own actions; completes tasks on time or notifies appropriate person with an alternate plan. Meets productivity standards; completes work in timely manner; strives to increase productivity; works quickly.

Physical demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Safety and security: observes safety and security procedures; reports potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly.

Work environment

The essential functions of this position are performed indoors. The noise level in the work environment can range from minimal to loud.
