Ongoing training and development How You’ll Make an Impact As a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway, you will join a dedicated team of carers who provide person-centred support to people with disabilities in their own homes. A day in the life as a Disability Support Worker with One Doorway may include: Delivering person-centred care and support based on individual needs and support plans. Supporting participants to meet their goals, particularly in alignment with their NDIS plan, with a focus on safety, dignity, and client goals. Responding to crisis situations, including de-escalating behaviours of concern as listed in the Behaviour Support Plan. Assisting with the delivery of activities that build capacity and develop skills across physical, social, emotional, and intellectual domains Foster a safe and supportive environment that promotes independence and autonomy. Develop and maintain positive relationships with client, families and other stakeholders. As a Support Worker, you will have experience within the disability sector, and as our participant has specific needs, you will also demonstrate the following: Experience supporting participants with high and complex needs, including complex behaviours, along with strong communication skills Previous experience in a similar role, particularly working with individuals that require Behavioural and Mental Health Support Experience with de-escalating heightened behaviours A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in people’s lives A patient, flexible, understanding, and supportive nature, with excellent listening skills and strong attention to detail The ability to take responsibility, use initiative, and work effectively as part of a team Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team Desirable, however, not essential: Certificate III in Individual Support or equivalent. Valid driver’s licence with access to a comprehensively insured vehicle.
